Some spectacular vistas of New Zealand
These are just a tiny sample of the views I experienced during my last visit to New Zealand in late December '05 and January '06. So it is easy to see why I am drawn back to this beautiful country ...

Nous avons un projet

Saturday, February 3rd

So we have a plan – well, of sorts – particularly in respect of the immediate future.

But regarding the immediate past: for the last couple of days I’ve just been playing around with my video editing software and produced a short movie of part of the ride when we travelled up SH1 from Kaikoura Township (of whales & dolphins notoriety) to Blenheim, South Island. The raw footage was captured during the early morning of Monday 22nd January, the day we left Kaikaura for Picton to catch the ferry back to North Island.

Returning to the immediate future:

On Monday, I shall temporarily leave Ruakaka and ride back up north to the Bay of Islands for the Waitangi Day celebrations. If you want to know more about this ‘special’ New Zealand event, then go to this website page for more information.

I have booked two nights’ (next Monday and Tuesday) accommodation in nearby Paihia Township especially for the occasion – AND reserved a ticket to see the full-blown Maori Cultural Performance during the evening of Mon-05-Feb. It should be a fascinating couple of days.

Then next Wednesday it’s back here to Ruakaka, for no more than three to four days, before I push off and head south for several weeks. I probably won’t return here again until early April, which will be just a few days before I leave New Zealand for San Francisco – and then onwards home to Cornwall, arriving back there on Wednesday the 11th April.

I hope you enjoy this third – but short, 4mins 7secs – embedded video.
